Raising Toddlers: How Can It Be Easier?
So they call it terrible two? Well, that’s an understatement if you ask me. At two years old, toddlers seem to have a built-in energy with hands that seem to multiply like tentacles. Don’t leave them alone for 10 minutes and you will never know how your place look like just before you leave.
But that’s not all about raising toddlers. This stage will leave you with so much good memories that you would sometimes wish you can go back in time.
Take this time as an opportunity to bond with your child. This is the perfect time to introduce the world to him and you will be fascinated at how fast he absorbs every single thing you taught.
How To Make The Best Out Of Raising A Toddler
- To enrich a toddler’s vocabulary, make it a habit to name things as both of you encounter them.
- Make use of silent signs – a hug for no apparent reason, a smile from across the room, a touch on the arm when you are criticizing or correcting him, a back rub when sitting together anywhere. Those silent signs will mean a lot than most compliments.
- Remember that at two. A toddler’s favorite word is “no.” Try not to ask if he wants to do something. Instead, say “Shall we go out of the house through the back or front door?”
- During bedtime, have your toddler put several toys on his bed one by one. Let him come last and stays up the latest.
- And just another tip: if you give kids a choice of two things, they will most likely choose the second one simply because it was mentioned last. So if you have a preference, it’s wise to put it last.
You don’t really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around – and why his parents will always wave back.
